The only other problem I could see here is if the net output signal has background "fuzz" related to signal noise, making the end signal sound weak or muddled, but I haven't tried yet so I can't say if this will arise or not. I've been thinking about connecting the output to a main in on my FireBox and boosting the signal some there, but unfortunately I don't have my computer that will allow me to accomplish the task at the moment. Now, this sucks if you have your headphones plugged into the output (such as my Sony earbuds plugged into the output of my iRig), but you can always boost the signal later. Quote by SimplyBen Thats the advantage of being such a distance. The output level seems to be the culprit turning this down seems to eliminate the feedback. Also get the Ampkit interface, the iRig doesnt work so well with it and feeds back horribly. Turning on the gate cuts sustain big time. Even with quiet pickups, there is no way to play anything high gain with those products. Both made tons of noise and the tones were bad. So, in order to get the best out of AmpKit, I tried solving the problem. The irig and peavey ampkit link are both unusable to me. AmpliTube has a very cramped sound, similar to what I get out of the main out on my Line6 Spyder II, and the distortion and overdrive pedals are not very inspiring. But the tone is just unmatched compared to anything else I've tried. I experienced the feedback problem as well. Some rig names may be a bit more "fun" than they are descriptive.Experienced some bad feedback while using distortion pedal settings.App is a universal binary, unlike other competitors, one purchase will get you access to both iPhone and iPad versions.Hardware costs about the same so if you're only looking for a rig emulator for use on a single iOS device, it comes down to preference.Īny of you guys tried out Ampkit? Cost wise, you'll spend a bit more on Amplitube if you want the iPhone and iPad version. I also owned an iPhone and have previously tried using the Amplitube iRig. If you're debating between Ampkit and Amplitube, I'd say download the free versions and play around. When it comes down to it, I think you'll have to decide which application you enjoy using more. I've tried it with the RiotFX app and it works great with headphones and with my amp.The hardware comes out about the same, minus the feedback issue we experienced with the Ampkit LiNK. I've got adapters that I use to connect to the headphones and the amp.įinally, I used 3/4" heat shrink to protect everything. As you can see, I left the RCA plugs on the output for now. I then doubled and fastened the guitar pair back to the guitar plug to complete the strain relief. The AmpKit LiNK HD pocket-sized iOS guitar interface provides double the quality and ease of the original AmpKit LiNK. Moreover, to know better about the two(2) interfaces, feel free to explore them down below. Here I've doubled the mic pair up to the guitar pair and cinched them together. I snipped the RCA plug off of the mic pair and attached it and guitar signal wires and grounds to the board. Peavey Ampkit is bizarrely quiet on my iPhone. The other ends of each pair have RCA plugs on them. This arrangement is convenient since all of the grounds are tied together at the four-conductor plug. Each pair has a common ground wire and a signal wire. Three pairs of wires come out of the iPhone plug. I had bought a four-conductor plug with cable at my local surplus store a while back for this purpose. I used Keeb's vero but moved things around and squeezed it together a little. I finally got around to making one of these after seeing the iRig on the shelf at an iPhone store for $40.
