![]() ![]() WinClone isn't allowing me to recover the clone it made (I suspect a Lion compatibility issue) so I've given up on WinClone for now, as far as the recovery process goes. I feel like I'm pretty close to getting something going - I can see my Windows file system after all - but I'm a bit stuck at the moment. That means you'll need to use a live USB session. I am able to mount the sparsebundle by using "hdid" but this doesn't appear to Fusion as a "real" Boot Camp partition, so I can't use the built-in import features. (1) Back up all important data to an external drive first (2) you should unmount the source drive before doing this to ensure the clone is not corrupted by data changes during the process. I have a copy of this on both an external USB disk, as well as on the local HFS+ file system on the new/target MBP. I used WinClone to copy my original Boot Camp partition - this created a folder hierarchy which includes a "Windows.sparsebundle" folder. If it comes to that, so be it, but I'm looking for free alternatives for the time being. This is a once-off thing so I'm reluctant to go out and spend money on a commercial migration tool. What I actually want to achieve is a migration from using Boot Camp to using a "native" VM - I never boot into Windows so there's no point taking the performance hit on running Boot Camp. I used Time Machine to take care of OSX and now I'm trying to migrate my Boot Camp partition, which I was using with VMware Fusion 4. I'm in the process of migrating from one MacBook Pro to another. You should see a small button underneath it that says 'clone this drive' click that and follow the onscreen prompts. ![]()
